Privacy Policy for Vesper

Vesper is a privacy-first, offline-first personal finance app designed to help you track your money manually and privately. This Privacy Policy explains what information Vesper collects, how it is used, and how your data is protected.

1. Overview

Vesper is designed to keep your financial data on your device by default.

Vesper does not connect to your bank accounts, credit card providers, payment accounts, brokerage accounts, or other financial institutions. Vesper does not ask for or store banking login credentials, full credit card numbers, CVV codes, or online banking passwords.

2. Information You Enter Into the App

Vesper may store information that you manually enter, including:

• Transactions, such as expenses, income, and balance movements
• Accounts or wallets you create manually
• Credit card nicknames or partial card details, such as the last four digits, if you choose to enter them
• Bills, due dates, recurring payment details, and reminders
• Goals, notes, categories, people balances, and related budgeting information
• App preferences, such as theme, nickname, base currency, security settings, and notification settings

This information is stored locally on your device.

3. Information Vesper Does Not Collect

Vesper does not collect or store:

• Bank usernames or passwords
• Full credit card numbers
• CVV or card security codes
• Bank account login credentials
• Brokerage or investment account credentials
• Government identification numbers
• Advertising identifiers for ad tracking
• Location data
• Contacts, unless a future feature asks for your permission and you explicitly allow it

4. Local Storage

Vesper stores your app data locally on your device. This allows the app to work offline and reduces the need to send personal financial information to external servers.

If your device is lost, reset, or deleted, your local Vesper data may also be lost unless you have created a backup using the app’s export or backup feature.

5. Backups and Exported Data

Vesper may allow you to export or back up your data manually. Exported files may contain personal financial information that you entered into the app.

You are responsible for storing exported backup files safely. Anyone with access to your exported file may be able to view the information inside it, unless the file is protected by encryption or another security feature provided by Vesper.

6. Security

Vesper is designed with local privacy and device-level protection in mind. Depending on your device and app settings, Vesper may support security features such as PIN unlock, biometric unlock, and local data protection.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You should keep your device protected with a secure passcode, avoid sharing your device with untrusted people, and store backups carefully.

7. Notifications

Vesper may use local notifications to remind you about bills, due dates, goals, or other financial items you create in the app.

These notifications are generated on your device. Vesper does not need to send your financial data to a server to provide local reminders.

8. AI Features

Vesper may include optional AI-assisted features, such as helping parse transaction text or summarize your locally stored financial information.

For the offline version of Vesper, AI processing is intended to happen on your device where supported. Vesper does not automatically send your financial data to cloud AI services.

If Vesper introduces optional cloud-based AI features in the future, those features will be clearly disclosed, and your data will only be sent with your consent or when required for the feature you choose to use.

9. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

Vesper does not show third-party ads.

Vesper does not sell your personal data.

Vesper does not use your financial data for advertising or cross-app tracking.

If analytics or crash reporting tools are added in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to explain what data is collected, why it is collected, and which third-party services are used.

10. In-App Purchases

Vesper may offer paid features, such as a one-time purchase or upgrade.

Payments are processed by the app store platform you use, such as Apple App Store or Google Play. Vesper does not receive or store your full payment card details. Payment processing is handled by the relevant app store provider under their own privacy and payment policies.

11. Data Sharing

Vesper does not sell, rent, or trade your personal financial data.

Vesper does not share your locally stored financial data with third parties unless:

• You choose to export, back up, or share your data
• You use a future optional sync or cloud feature
• Sharing is required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable government request

12. Optional Future Cloud Features

Vesper may introduce optional cloud features in the future, such as encrypted sync, multi-device backup, or account-based recovery.

If these features are added, this Privacy Policy will be updated before or when those features become available. The app will explain what data is uploaded, how it is protected, and whether the feature is optional.

13. Children’s Privacy

Vesper is not intended for children under the age of 13, or the minimum age required in your country. Vesper does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through Vesper, please contact us so we can review and address the issue.

14. Your Choices

You can control your Vesper data by:

• Editing or deleting records inside the app
• Deleting the app from your device
• Deleting exported backup files you created
• Disabling local notifications in your device settings
• Choosing not to use optional features that require additional data access

Because Vesper stores data locally by default, deleting the app may delete your local Vesper data from the device.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. If changes are made, the updated version will be posted at this page with a new effective date.

Your continued use of Vesper after the policy is updated means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
